Trip Dates: April 16 – April 22, 2016
Day 1: Arrival and Getting Acquainted.
After arriving in San Jose in the afternoon, you’ll be taken to your luxurious vacation home in Manuel Antonio where we’ll get to know each other. If time permits, we will explore the beaches and go shopping. You’ll be cooked a special homemade dinner that evening.
Day 2: ATV Tour
Drive your own fully-equipped ATV into the rugged mountains, where your professional bilingual guides lead you through rustic tropical settings to see waterfalls and natural springs located in the unique rain forest ecosystem. During the tour we’ll pass by four different types of plantations: teak, rice, papaya and African palm. Your guide will point out interesting facts concerning the environment. We’ll also pass through several traditional Costa Rican towns; this gives you the chance to see a different more rustic side of Costa Rica.
Day 3: Hiking Manuel Antonio National Park.
We’ll take a hike with a highly trained, well-educated Costa Rican naturalist guide through our exotic, bio-diverse tropical rain forest preserved in our 34 year old national treasure, Manuel Antonio National Park. Scenic Manuel Antonio National Park is a perfect combination of warm Pacific waters and rainforest that grows right down to the three white sand beaches. Nature trails take you along the beach strand and over a forested, rocky promontory. This park, in the humid tropical zone, protects several habitats, including primary and secondary forest, mangroves, beach vegetation and marine resources. Because of its relatively small size and isolation by surrounding ocean and plantations, it is probably one of the easiest places in Costa Rica to see wildlife, particularly sloths, coatimundi, agoutis, White-faced Monkeys and the tiny Squirrel Monkey.
Day 4: Whitewater Rafting In The Naranjo River.
We’ll raft Class III and IV rapids in the Naranjo River. The trip begins when the Naranjo River drops steeply from the Costa Rican mountains and charges though pristine jungle gorges, then winds around rocky curves to take you on a wild, adventurous ride back to sea level waters. The section we run goes from the town of Villanueva in the mountains, to the Llamaron Bridge on the road from Quepos to Dominical. On this 8 miles of whitewater we will run rapids like La Pirata, El Cesar & Robin Hood. On the second half of our run the river opens up on the Pacific flatlands giving us the opportunity to enjoy the view and see many species of birds like the Ringed King Fisher and the White Ibis. With a little bit of luck we might be able to see one of the crocodiles that live on the river’s edge!
Day 5: Ziplining In The Rainforest.
We’ll sail high above the rainforest canopy and experience Manuel Antonio’s most popular adventure sport: the canopy zip line. This exhilarating tour was actually invented in Costa Rica, and has since been featured on the Discovery Channel.
This tour offers an adventurous tourist the opportunity to ascend into the forest canopy and see jungle life from a perspective available previously to only a select few researchers and photographers. Travel on suspension cables from platform to platform through the rainforest canopy. We’ll visit the protected habitat of the Mono Titi Biological Corridor, which is an excellent location for you to explore the exotic varieties of plant and animal life in the mountainous jungles near Manuel Antonio National Park.
Day 6: Manuel Antonio Coastal Kayaking, Snorkeling and Waterfall Rappel.
The adventure begins near the developing Pez Vela (Sail Fish) Marina in Quepos and winds along the Manuel Antonio coastline. Indulge yourselves at a rare jewel of a beach – a hidden Manuel Antonio treasure at Biezans Bay – for a refreshing swim and delicious local snacks. This sea kayaking tour is the chance to be around to see the miracle of life below and above the ocean surface – from flying fish and turtles, to flocks of birds and pelicans – and to explore some islands and coastal estuaries inside that are hard to find. And feel free to have your bilingual naturalist guide direct you to the best snorkeling spots as you experience three small but growing, active, and incredible coral reef systems nestled very close to the shore of Biezans Bay, or just relax and enjoy the tranquility of a private white sand beach.
In the afternoon, we’ll have the opportunity to do a Waterfall Rappel We’ll travel into the rainforest into the Costa Rican countryside where your adventure begins. This off-road trip takes you to a part of the country most tourists don’t see. During the journey you may observe plants and animals in the area. The tour includes the opportunity to rappel two waterfalls: 135 feet high and 165 feet high (no experience necessary), to hike on beautiful trails, cross a swinging bridge 375 feet long, swim in clear natural swimming pools, and experience traditional Costa Rican cooking. Enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch overlooking the swinging bridge and canyon waterfall. Our guides are safety conscience and professionally trained to help curb your fears. The canyoning tour is for anyone in moderate physical condition.
Day 7: Boot-Camp and Goal Setting.
You can’t escape Costa Rica without one of Scott Colby’s world famous boot-camps. So we’ll kick off the morning with a boot-camp workout. After a delicious homemade breakfast, we’ll set some goals to work on when we get back home, say our goodbyes and depart for the airport.
