Day 1, Thursday April 21, 2016 – Check in and Hike Lily Lake
We arrive at the house in Estes Park. Check in time is 4:00 pm. After we put our bags away, we’ll do a short hike before sunset around Lily Lake. The hike offers outstanding views of Lily Mountain, Estes Cone, as well as Mt. Meeker and Longs Peak, the two highest peaks in Rocky Mountain National Park.
Once we arrive back at the house, we’ll settle in for a delicious meal prepared by Jenni. After that we’ll get to know one another and have a roundtable discussion about what brought us to the Unplugged Weekend Retreat.
Day 2, Friday April 22, 2016 – Meditation, Yoga, Finding Your Purpose and Hike Emerald Lake
We’ll begin the morning with some relaxing guided meditation led by Jenni. We will then limber up and have a relaxing yoga class to work on deep breathing and flexibility.
After breakfast, we’ll come together and Scott and Terry will lead a talk about Finding Your Purpose. We’ve each had the opportunity to find ways to be connected and confident with who we are and what are purpose in life is. It’s a powerful place to be and we’ll show you how you can do this too. We’ll also dig deep to find out what may be holding you back in life and to live more in the present moment.
In the afternoon, we’ll hike Emerald Lake. The views of Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain from the east shore of this beautiful subalpine lake are simply outstanding, and we’ll peak at just over 10,000 feet.
Day 3, Saturday April 23, 2016 – Adventure Day: Hike Twin Sisters and Mountain Bike
This will be an adventurous day as we’ll start out with a fairly difficult hike up Twin Sisters. At the peak we’ll get to almost 12,000 feet. Although it’s difficult at times, we’ll enjoy rangy panoramas across Longs Peak, Estes Park and the Continental Divide, along with interesting alpine ecology leading to the summits.
After lunch, we’ll get out the mountain bikes. We’ll do Devils Gulch to Dry Gulch – an intermediate 9 mile loop starting near the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, and following McGregor Ranch Road/Devils Gulch to H Bar G Rd, then Dry Gulch back to Hwy 34 in Estes Park. The views back to the Continental Divide are spectacular.
Day 4, Sunday April 24, 2016 – Walking Meditation (Hike Dream Lake), Overcoming Fears, Cooking Class
We’ll do our meditation session while hiking Dream Lake. The views of 12,713-foot Hallett Peak and 12,324-foot Flattop Mountain from the east shore of this beautiful subalpine lake are simply outstanding. In between the two mountains is the Tyndall Gorge, with the Tyndall Glacier just barely visible from this angle.
In walking meditation we use the experience of walking as our focus. We become mindful of our experience while walking, and try to keep our awareness involved with the experience of walking.
After lunch, Scott will talk about 7 Steps for Overcoming Your Fears. This will be an interactive discussion and among other things we’ll talk about how to get rid of negative self-beliefs and build self-confidence. Then, we’ll create a personalized strategy for overcoming your fears.
Jenni will lead a cooking class that evening as she’ll show you how to prepare one of her delicious, healthy dinners. She’ll even show you how cooking can be used as meditation.
Day 5, Monday April 25, 2016 – Meditation, Goal Setting and Say Our Goodbyes
